Thanks
to the collaboration with the Spanish company Giave (manufacturers of
machinery for printing and converting packaging), the innovative cast MOPE
(mono-oriented polyethylene) film produced on COLINES®' latest generation
lines will be showcased at the upcoming prestigious DRUPA fair in Dusseldorf.
The
26-micron film was obtained with a stretch ratio of 4.2:1 and is unique
worldwide: cast technology boasts excellent optical and mechanical properties
to MOPE film and is ideal for both printing and lamination. Giave used their
machine to print the film in 5 colors with Flint's UV LED inks at a speed of
400 m/min using internal printing mode. The printing process showed excellent
results and did not require a refresh of the corona treatment.
"Mono
oriented PE film is commonly produced with blown extrusion technology,"
says Nicola Lombardini, COLINES®’
R&D Manager "but the so-extruded film has some limits. For instance,
blown MOPE film doesn’t have good haze & gloss, which is something easily
achieved with cast extrusion technology. Additionally, the possibility of
having one side of the film with good sealability is game-changer factor of
cast technology. This means that cast MOPE film can be potentially suitable
for a very huge market, as it could replace some existing products like
BOPET, guaranteeing both higher recyclability and extreme downgauging".

film extruded by COLINES®
